A new Beginning!

Praise the Lord indeed for He has been and still is very gracious to me. He has let me graduate with a BA in Biblical Studies last May 2009.

Now that I have graduated, the Lord has given me a blessed opportunity to further my studies in pursuit of a Master’s of Divinity degree in Criswell College. The Lord has impressed in my heart that there is much more I need to learn about His word in order that I may share with others accurately the Gospel of Christ and His Kingdom.

As it is written in Scripture, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus Christ. And, as one who has all the authority, he commands those who follow him to make disciples of all nations, and this is to be done through baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Also, part of making disciples is to teach them to observe his commands. All of this is done through the power of the one who has all authority and who is with you always, even the end of this age.

It is in light of the great commission that I pursue further studies so that, with the knowledge and wisdom that I acquire, I will be able to participate in the great commission, not just through the sharing of the gospel to others, which is, the Messiah has come to redeem and reconcile people to God, but I will also be able to help teach my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ the commands of the Lord and help us to align our lives to the truth of His Word.

The Mission: An Update

The Mission will always be the same as stated in Matthew 28:16-20. There we see Jesus, the Son of Man, holding all authority since He is the King in the kingdom of God. As king, Jesus gives a mission to His people to “go,” along with going is “discipling” and “teaching” with the intent of making disciples in Christ so that they in turn may proclaim and demonstrate Christ’s kingdom and rulership.

This is it! The final stretch and the finish line is within reach. My last semester at Criswell College has finally arrived. Graduation is just around the corner and I praise God for He has sustained me during my study at Criswell College through the love, prayer, encouragement, and financial support of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I praise God and rejoice for everyone’s role and effort in this ministry which our Lord has blessed us with. Thank you.

Indeed the mission is the same but now, new paths have been opened. Originally the plan was that I will be graduating this December at Criswell College, then I will go back home to the Philippines, and then I will return to the USA for graduate studies. I still will be graduating this coming December 2008; however, I will not be going home to the Philippines just yet. Instead, I will go attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary for my M.Div. immediately following my graduation. Please join me in prayer as I venture into the next stage of preparation that the Lord as set before me.

Recent Events

The Gospel of Christ Jesus our Lord does transcend cultural boundaries. I saw this first hand this summer, as the Lord has given me the opportunity to be able to serve His people, my brothers and sisters in Christ, and proclaim His good news to others in the state of Texas.

I stayed in Brownsville, Texas for a week in the month of July with other Criswell students for our Mission Practicum class which required us to go and experience Christ and His work in other cultures and see whether our Lord has called us in that specific ministry. There we had the privilege to serve our fellow believers in First Baptist Brownsville and share the Gospel with the locals.

To read more about what Criswell College students were doing in Brownsville, please follow the link: http://www.brownsvilleherald.com/news/potts_88409___article.html/brownsville_people.html

In addition to Brownsville, the Lord has given me the opportunity to serve younger Christians in Youth Week @ Alto Frio for the SBTC as the Recreation Director for Camp. My team consisted of fellow students from Criswell College and together we planned and by the Lord’s grace, put into action the activities that we had scheduled for the students. And in that, we were able to fellowship and even bear witness to the things the Lord has done and is doing in the youth’s lives.

The youth were divided into colors as they play games that encouraged team work.
